early egyptian chairs were given animalistic attributes—bull hoofs for feet or lion’s legs—and it was said that the sitter was meant to derive the strength of that sacred animal. as a modern interpretation of this idea, the HIERO chair is intended to empower its keeper and animate its home. echoing the first chairs of egypt in form and stance, the HIERO crouches low to the ground, lending a dynamic character to any seating arrangement.
